For my voracious reader friends…
The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld- Probably one of my favorite series about a futuristic world where everyone gets a surgery to make them “pretty” when they turn 16. The books follows a pair of friends that resist the surgery.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett- Excellent book written from the viewpoint of the colored maids in the South during the 50s. I honestly couldn’t put it down.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Another futuristic trilogy (only 2 have been written) where the Capitol requires that two tributes come from each of the 12 districts to compete in the Hunger Games, where they kill each other off until the last person is the winner. Good books.
Born Under a Million Shadows by Andrea Busfield- A Post-Taliban ruled Afghanistan book that follows a boy and his mother and several ex-patriates that are living in Afghanistan.
The Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart- This series (3 books) is written for children but they’re really good reads abotu a group of genius children that solve crimes.
Poison Study series by Maria V. Snyder (and the Sea Glass series)- If you liked Twilight, you might like these books. They are fantasy/love/adventure novels that follow a woman who has the choice to be executed or become the King’s food tester. There are 4-5 books in the series.
Now, it’s your turn to share with me!
