Life with Jesus

{Well, first of all, I’d like to give a big shout out to Joanna J. who has read all of my Xangas. She teaches Junior High and the girls adore her, as do I.  She has an awesome laugh and cool red hair. Now, that is a suprise. }

I’m reading through Luke, trying to discover and pinpoint the Heart of God and true to form, I try to turn everything I read into an analogy. Today I read about Jesus calming the storm. This is a pretty neat story. Jesus says “Hey, let’s go to the other side of the lake.” They get in the boat, a storm comes, they wake Jesus up from a nap, Jesus says, “Where is your faith?” and then calms the storm.

Okay, here’s the analogy. Jesus tells us to do stuff. Give up certain friends or activities, sit with that nerdy person, be patient, persevere, be a missionary, live. He’s telling us to “Go to the other side”. Well, the journey will not be an easy one. There will be storms.  Just because God tells us to do something does not mean that it will be easy, which I think we expect so many times. There will be times when you are scared or hurt or angry and you have to call on Jesus (which we should have been doing all along). See, the good news about this is that Jesus is with you all along. He’s so not worried about it that he’s taking a nap.  Jesus will calm your storms. He’ll never give you a challenge that you can’t handle.

You might ask, why even choose to go across the lake if there is going to be a storm? Why choose the harder, narrower path if there is an easy one? Well….

Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16

The good way is not always the easy way. But it’s the only way to find rest. Ask where God is leading you to go or do and then have faith that whatever may happen, he will bring you through. K?
